First graders have finished their puppet shows and are taking them home! We've had a lot of fun learning about foreground, middleground and background in our drawings, and learning to use these to create a setting for our puppet show.
We started out looking at paintings by Henri Rousseau (Check out his work here) and seeing how he creates artwork that looks like you could climb in and explore. We made some jungles of our own before creating our own designs. Ask your kid to identify the foreground, middleground and background in their piece, and see if they can spot them in other images around you - and get them to tell you their story too, they each wrote a play to go with their puppet show!
